Having Choices is a beautiful thing!

Choices are a great way to allow your child to be healthy and make independent decisions to support their own growth. Incorporating options can help form long-lasting, health-conscious dietary patterns. Choices and preference selections are incorporated in applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy, and often used to help children with autism spectrum disorders, to increase active participation.

To help your child with making choices in their weight loss journey, you could use similar principles. For example, you can provide your child with choices of snacks for the week. They can pick two healthy snack options and one preferred snack. You can also incorporate this with creating grocery lists and meal-prepping, helping them achieve tasks related to school, and so on.
